The College
The Singhbhum Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital is situated in the heart of Jamshedpur, popularly known as the Steel City of India. The College was established in 1953 and is registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.
The college is situated at Sakchi, center of Jamshedpur and its Hospital is at Kashidih, about 1 km away from the College. In addition the College is having 7 OPDs (Agrico, Sonari, Kashidih and Sakchi, Tuiladungri and Indian Red Cross Society and Parivar Kalyan Sansthan: Tata Motors).The College is having its own 25 bedded indoor hospital at Kashidih.Tata Steel is a pioneer support to the Institution that is fulfilling the healths needs of Tata Steel employees as well. Tata Steel employees and their families are treated free in the College Hospital for which the institution gets financial assistance from Tata Steel. The College is also having a MOU with Parivar Kalyan Sansthan, Tata Motors through which the students attend the Ante and Post natal care OPD, Malnutrition Centre, Eye Operations, General OPD, Laprascopy camps and rural medical camps. The College also organizes regular medical camps at distant rural areas for health awareness and treatment.
The College is managed by a Governing Body, constituted by the Dep. of Health Education, Govt. of Jharkhand to which the Deputy commissioner, East Singhbhum is the Chairman and a nominee of Tata Steel is the Vice Chairman. Local MLA, representative of Dept. of Health Education and some eminent citizens of Jamshedpur are members of the governing body.
The College is having a teaching faculty of about 35 well qualified teachers. The teaching faculty, in addition is having some senior visiting teachers, who are specialists in their respective fields.
Course, Recognition and Affiliation
The College is teaching B.H.M.S. (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) course. It is a five and half year course with one year of mandatory internship training (inclusive). The course is recognized by the Dept. of AYUSH, Ministry of Health, Govt. of India, Central Council of Homoeopathy, New Delhi (Govt. of India) and the Dept. of Health Education, Govt. of Jharkhand. The college is Permanently affiliated from Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh.
